Comedians Stand Up to Launch Stoptober 2015

Last Year, Over 260,000 People Gave Up Smoking

Due to the annual Stoptober campaign, which supports those who pledge to quit over the 28-day period. Registration has now begun for this year’s Stoptober, which begins on October 1 and pledges to provide more support than ever to those who sign up.

Stoptober participants can expect to receive free support including a stop-smoking pack, tips and advice for quitting, text support with daily updates and a 28-day mobile phone app. New for this year will be a series of videos released throughout the month featuring a series of funny and motivational messages from comedians such as Bill Bailey, Rhod Gilbert, Al Murray and Shappi Khorsandi.

Speaking about his participation in the Stoptober campaign, Bill Bailey said that he has had firsthand experience with having to quit smoking, due to suffering from asthma, and is excited about the positive message he will be delivering as part of the campaign.

Research has shown that smokers are two thirds more likely to quit if their spouse does, and a third more likely to if a friend or co-worker does, demonstrating the real power of having the support of a social network to help you quit.

One of the most effective ways to quit smoking is to switch to the e-cigarette, which simulates the effects of smoking but without several of the harmful chemicals which are contained in regular cigarettes.
