Part Two of Our Article Series; Clearing Up E-Cigarette Misconceptions

Welcome back to the second, and final instalment of our guide to dispelling the commons myth surrounding e-cigarettes and their accessories. We are all aware that, just like with anything new, there’s undoubtedly going to be various myths, theories, and general hearsay that gets circulated, from old misinformation, to more deceptive reasons. It’s important for you to have the right facts to hand as this is the best way to disassemble these collective myths, so let’s help you out with a handful more!

Following on from part one’s final misconception…

    Misconception 8: There’s no nicotine in e-cigarettes

Reality: The answer to this is both yes and no. Both E Liquids and e-cigarette refills are available with nicotine content ranging from 3mg to 18mg. There are also nicotine free options on the market, but these don't allow for recovering smokers to get the nicotine hit they are looking for, which of course, is part of the road to success in kicking the tobacco habit.

Misconception 9: Vapour from e-cigarettes is the same as second hand smoke

Reality: We can’t stress how far from the truth this is. Vapour is vapour, plain and simple. It’s not smoke, and there are no harmful by-products. E-cigarette vapour has no smell, the flavoured liquids have a scent but that’s it, and there’s also no lingering odours, unlike tobacco smoke.

Misconception 10: Children and teenagers can buy e-cigarettes

Reality: In simple terms, children and teenagers under 18 face the same barriers to buying electronic cigarettes as they would if they were attempting to purchase tobacco cigarettes.

Misconception 11: E-cigarettes are made to tempt teenagers to use them

Reality: We get this question a lot, particularly due to the flavoured products on offer. However, manufacturers do not make e-cigarettes to ‘lure’ or ‘tempt’ children or underage people whatsoever. They must reach a minimum age requirement to buy electronic cigarettes, as mentioned in the previous point. Nicotine is a substance that isn’t intended for use by children or teenagers, and this counts for vaping products, just as it does tobacco products.

Misconception 12: The taste of e-cigarettes isn’t nice

Reality: If there is one thing the customers here at OK Vape love, it’s our wonderful range of flavours! We all have opinions on what tastes good or not so good, so when it comes to this myth, it really does boil down to personal preference. It’s worth mentioning that in the early days of e-cigarettes, there were reports of them leaving a bad taste in the mouth, but things have developed and improved since then, and it’s certainly not an issue anymore!

Misconception 13: E-cigarettes are more addictive than their tobacco counterparts

Reality: False. You will not crave nicotine any more with an electronic cigarette than you would with a tobacco version. The only difference is that you won’t get the thousands of added harmful chemicals and tar production in e-cigarettes. The only thing you might crave more is our great range of flavours!

Misconception 14: E-cigarette manufacturers are attempting to entice non-smokers

Reality: An outright no! E-cigarettes have been designed to assist tobacco smokers in the quest to end their habit. Smokers around the globe are continually turning to e-cigarettes to help them quit, and there has never been a plan to target any other demographic.
