Which Nicotine Strength Do I Need?

Most vapers opt to use an e cig liquid with nicotine, in order to help make the switch from smoking to vaping. Our vape liquids are available in a range of nicotine strengths, so the following information should help if you're not sure where to start.

18mg
Suitable for new users looking to switch to vaping from smoking or those who prefer a stronger 'throat hit'. This strength is generally best suited to 'classic' or 'mouth-to-lung' (MTL) devices and tanks.

12mg
A good strength for moderate smokers switching to vaping, or those that find 18mg too harsh but want to keep cravings at bay. Also recommended for MTL devices and tanks.

6mg
A good place to start if you are a light smoker or smoke rolling tobacco. This strength can be used in both MTL and 'direct-to-lung' (DTL) devices, but will give a stronger hit in the latter.

3mg
This is the lowest strength in our range, producing little to no 'throat hit' in a classic or MTL device. This is also the most popular option for sub ohm or 'DTL' coils and kits.

What does MTL & DTL Mean?

All e liquids will contain a certain ratio of the ingredients propylene glycol and vegetable glycerine. This ratio is usually indicated on the box or bottle. For mouth to lung devices, you'll need to use e-liquids with at least a 50% ratio of propylene glycol or 'PG'.

E-Liquid FAQ's

The main base ingredients in e liquids are propylene glycol (PG), vegetable glycerine (VG) and flavourings. PG and VG are both food-safe ingredients that make up a majority of an e liquid; almost all vape juices will contain a ratio of both ingredients.

Propylene glycol (PG) is a plant derived liquid, commonly used in the food and medical industry; it has a slightly sweet and is colourless. Like PG, vegetable Glycerine (VG) is also a colourless liquid used in the food industry. VG is thicker than VG so is used as a thickener and sweetener. VG can either be plant derived or synthetic.

E Liquids also contain various strengths of nicotine, ranging from nicotine free, up to 20mg; the highest legal nicotine content set by the EU TPD E Cigarette Regulations.

It is difficult to say how long a bottle of e liquid will last as there are many variables; however, generally speaking, we estimate that our 10ml bottles of e liquid should last around a week for a 15 a day smoker. Estimating how long a bottle of e liquid lasts will vary depending on your vaping and smoking habits as well as what type of device you are using and what wattage you are vaping at.

Despite how quickly you may use it, it's important to look after your vape juice.

Our e liquids have an expiration date of two and a half years from the date of manufacture. To get the most out of your e liquids, make sure the lids are kept securely sealed and they are stored away from light and heat.

If you are a smoker making the switch to vaping, we would recommend starting with a mid range nicotine strength e-liquid; 12mg is a good place to start. This strength will not be too harsh, but should provide enough nicotine to help with cravings.

If you find that you are still wanting a cigarette when using a 12mg e-liquid, you may find an 18mg e-liquid more satisfying.

More experienced vapers, or lighter smokers, may find a 6mg nicotine strength e-liquid adequate.

If you have been vaping for a while and want to start cutting down nicotine, we recommend gradually reducing your e-liquid nicotine strength. At this point, you may find that a 3mg nicotine e-liquid satisfies you.
