MTL and DTL are acronyms for terms of different vaping styles which play an important part when it comes to choosing an e-cigarette. MTL means 'mouth to lung', which is where the vapour from the e-cigarette is inhaled into the mouth, then into the lungs, similar to how most smokers inhale the smoke from a cigarette.
DTL is 'direct to lung' vaping, where the vapour is inhaled directly into the lungs. This is generally better suited to more experienced vapers. This is otherwise known as 'sub ohm' vaping.
Most devices are designed for either MTL or DTL vaping, however many vape kits now offer both styles.
Vape kits made for MTL vaping use coils with a higher resistance, generally 1 ohm and above. The liquid in the tank is vapourised at a cooler temperature and therefore a cooler, thinner vapour is produced - similar to smoke.
As before, your vape kit will need at least a 1 ohm coil resistance with suitable e-liquid. Â E-liquid with a higher ratio of VG are thicker, making it less suitable for an MTL kit. You'll need to use e-liquids with at least a 50% ratio of PG.
DTL vape kits use coils with a resistance below 1 ohm. This allows the coil to heat e liquid at a higher temperature and therefore creates warmer, more dense clouds of vapour. These kits are usually bigger and allow wattage and other settings to be adjusted to the suit users taste.
Ensure your device has a coil installed that is less than 1 ohm, and will likely need a lower nicotine strength e-liquid (as you'll get a stronger hit of nicotine in one go). No matter the strength, e-liquids with at least 50% VG content are best suited.
