How To Choose An E-Liquid
We are sure that it is now common knowledge that Vaping is cheaper and has a number of advantages compared to cigarettes, as well as number of other reasons to love vaping that we covered in last week’s blog.
So, you’ve heard all of this and would like to take the next step towards joining the 3.2 million other people in the UK that have taken up vaping but are just not sure how or where to start?
No problem! We’ve put together this beginner’s guide to help you choose the type of vaping that may be best suited to you. We’ve based this guide on choosing the type of e-liquid as a first step, which in turn will make choosing your vape hardware a lot easier and less overwhelming.
What Are E-Liquids?
E-liquid, also called “vape juice” by many, is the fluid used in vaporizers and electronic cigarettes that creates the actual vapor. They fall into a few main categories, based around either the hit to the back of your throat or the amount of vape “smoke” that you will exhale. (Well, it isn’t really smoke, the nicotine infused vapour is essentially steam as no combustion is going on.)
What Are the Main Types Of E-Liquids?
Most e-liquids are either known as VG (made from vegetable glycerin) or PG (made from propylene glycol) and include water, nicotine and food flavouring. E-liquids with a VG bias tend to give the larger vapour clouds at the expense of the throat hit. Those with a PG bias provide the hit to the back of the throat that many trying to give up smoking want.
How Do I Decide the Right Nicotine Strength For Me?
As a general rule, consider choosing an e-liquid with 3mg of nicotine if you only smoked one or two cigarettes a day, 6mg if you smoked under 10 per day and want a decent throat hit, 12mg if you were up to and above 20 a day and 18mg and higher if you puffed like a chimney.
Alternatively, you don’t have to have Nicotine in your e-liquid, if you don’t want to. However, if you are trying to give up cigarettes, you may want to start with an e-liquid that helps you with cravings for nicotine in the first few weeks or months after you have stopped smoking.
You can find more information to help you choose the right nicotine strength in this guide.
Types of E-Liquid
We have a huge range of OK Vape E-Liquids for you to choose from with varying levels of nicotine and different PG & VG combinations. Here’s an overview of the range that we offer and recommendations as to which vape hardware is best for each type.
OK 50/50 E-Liquids
50/50 e-liquids offer the best of both worlds, with a balanced ratio of PG and VG. In recent years, this ratio has become increasingly popular due to it’s versatility. The 50% PG/50% VG blend makes these e-liquids suitable for use in the majority of vape kits or pod vapes and offer a perfect balance of flavour and vapour production. Our OK 50/50 E-Liquid range comes in a wide variety of flavours and nicotine strengths from 6mg to 18mg.

OK Classic E-Liquids
OK Classic E-liquids are made in the UK and have a ratio of PG70/VG 30. Therefore, these e-liquids are more suitable for those looking for the hit to the back of the throat, rather than the larger vape clouds.

Which Are The Best Kits To Use With OK Classic E-Liquids?
Any of the kits available in our Classic MTL Vape Kits category will make the perfect partner for our classic e-liquids. These vape juices will work well with any standard vape kit or tank/clearomizer, but won’t be suitable for sub-ohm tanks or mods.
OK Sub Ohm E-Liquids
Ever seen a vaper exhaling big plumes of vapour and wondered what it’s all about, or heard the term ‘sub ohm’ but have no idea what it means? In short, sub ohm is vaping using a vape kit best suited to the high VG liquids, which create large clouds of vapour. Read our Guide to Sub Ohm vaping to find out more about what it is and where to start.

Which are The Best Kits to Use With OK Sub Ohm E-Liquids?
As the name suggests, these vape juices are designed for use with sub ohm vape kits. Choose between our range of the best brands on the market – Aspire, Innokin, and Vaproesso.
Nicotine Salt E-Liquids
Nicotine salts vaporise at a lower temperature and can be used at higher nicotine concentrations to produce a smoother, and potentially more immediate nicotine hit than the freebase nicotine found in most standard e-liquids. E-liquids containing nicotine salts, or ‘nicsalt e-liquids’ are therefore well suited to smokers making the switch to Vaping. Find out more here.
Our NicSalt range is available in four flavours, each with 18mg nicotine.

Which Are The Best Kits To Use With OK Nic Salt E-Liquids?
Our range of NicSalt E-Liquids contain 18mg nicotine and 50% VG/50% PG. The equal PG/VG ratio means they can be used with both classic vape kits and sub ohm vape kits. Please note however that they will be quite strong in a sub ohm kit. If using with a sub ohm kit, they’ll be best suited for vaping at a low power output (10-14 watts).
Short Fill E-Liquids
We also have a range of short fill E-liquids that are nicotine-free and, with 75% VG content, they are ideal for those who want to produce larger vapour clouds. They come in 50ml bottles and, by adding one 18mg nicotine shot, you’ll get 60ml of 3mg nicotine strength vape juice.
